Talk of the Tundra/ Lyle Huseby Swing
October 13-14, 2007
The Gustavus Adolphus College Forensics team placed FIRST out of 10 schools at the Talk of the Tundra Invitational hosted by Concordia College and FIRST out of 10 schools at the Lyle Huseby Invitational hosted by North Dakota State University. The Forensics team also placed FIRST overall out of 10 schools in the combined tournament sweepstakes. The Gusties won 10 events. Gustavus took first with 556 points overall while North East Community College took 2nd with 145 points overall. Emma Moreau won individual sweepstakes for the Talk of the Tundra Tournament and Maria Sielge won individual sweepstakes for the Lyle Huseby Tournament.

Congrats on all of the speech events. That’s great to see so many students being actively involved. I didn’t see any results for debate included with the forensics team. Are there any students doing the debate circuit?
Mike, thank you for the congratulatory note. Our program is a comprehensive program, meaning we compete in both individual events and Parliamentary Debate. We have roughly six students traveling to local debate tournaments. We have captured the state debate title four out of the past five years.
