The 2010 Minnesota Collegiate Forensics Association State Tournament
February 20 – 21, 2010
For the third consecutive year, the Gustavus Adolphus College Forensics team won the Minnesota Collegiate Forensics Association State Championships, placing first out of nine schools. The Gusties placed first in eight events and placed second in six others.
In addition, the Gustavus Forensics Team was also awarded the Greg Lapanta Quality Award for the second time in three years. This award is based on the number of points earned divided by the number of slots entered. Gustavus averaged 9.19 points per event entered.
Senior Mary Cunningham won a total of four events, earning Gustavus’ third Individual Sweepstakes Championship and qualified to represent Minnesota at the 2010 Interstate Oratorical Association National Contest, the oldest annual speaking competition. This marks the sixth consecutive year Gustavus will have a representative at the IOA National Contest, and is Cunningham’s second time qualifying, having represented Minnesota in 2008.
